What is TackTrac?

TackTrac ID tags provide an easy, inexpensive way to provide permanant and positive identification for saddles and other tack equipment. Our RFID tags and corresponding online database provide an up-to-date and easily accessible way for owners (or law enforcement) to confirm ownership of property. This not only acts as a deterrent to theft, but in the event a saddle or other tack is lost or stolen, the easy identification process can greatly assist in the recovery process.



Who should be a reseller?

Farriers, tack shops, stables, and other professionals providing equine related services. In order to maintain a high level of service to our end customers, reseller opportunities are limitied to those directly involved in equine related industries.



Why would I want to sell TackTrac ID tags?

Provides value to your customers:

Electronic microchip tagging and registration of saddles and tack is a new and quickly growing industry.

Provides value to you:

TackTrac identification tags are easy to incorporate into your existing offerings, allowing you to provide a valuable service to your customers and create additional revenue for yourself with as little or as much effort as you want to put into it. Registry of TackTrac tags, as well as the lost/stolen reporting/alert system is handled by the customer directly with TackTrac, so there is no post-sale support necessary on your part. Marketing is done at the national level to create brand awareness with no 'franchise fees' passed down to the individual retailers.
Multiple avenues for revenue generation are available:
  • Resale of 'retail' (do it yourself) installation kits:
    In this setup, you simply offer the boxed do-it-yourself installation kits for sale at your location. These kits contain the tag, registration card, installation instructions, and specialty tools necessary to install the tag into your saddle. You purchase these kits directly from TackTrac (at quantity discounts) and re-sell them.
  • Installer installation kits:
    You purchase special 'installer kits' from TackTrac (at greater discounts than the retail packs) which contain the tags and registration cards, but do not contain individual installation tools or installation instructions for each tag. Instead, you get a single set of tools and instructions for the whole pack. In this scenario, you purchase the tags that you will install into customer equipment, allowing you to further profit from the service of the installation.
  • Scanning services:
    You may wish to offer additional services (such as scanning used tack that comes in for trade) for a small fee.
  • Referrals:
    Sign up other resellers, and receive discounts on your future purchases based on a percentage of their sales.



How to sell TackTrac identification tags

For retail (do-it-yourself) installation kit sales, you purchase boxed, ready-for-sale packages. Simply place them on the shelf and you're ready to go.

For installer sales, you install the tags by following the easy installation instructions to install tags in new merchandise prior to sale, or as a value-added service for your customers by 'chipping' their existing equipment.

You are not bound into one type of purchase. You may wish to offer retail (do-it-yourself) installation kits at the counter, but also provide installation services. You can purchase and offer both types of tags.



What do I get?

After completing the reseller signup agreement - you'll purchase your starter kit from TackTrac. The starter kit contains:

  • 1 portable microchip scanner (required for installer kit - optional for retailer kits)
  • 10 individual retail packs OR one 12-pack installer kit
  • Product sales support materials

For subsequent purchases, you only need to order the retail/installer packs themselves.

If you require an additional scanner (for multiple locations, etc.) you can purchase those separately.

If (within the first 6 months) you decide to no longer be a reseller you can return the scanner from your starter kit (in working order) for a refund of the cost of the scanner (minus a 25% restocking/rechecking fee).
